The MERTON barograph , our own style of barograph based on old designs and quality, illustrated above. After many years working with these wonderful instruments we decided to manufacturer our own movement. It is unsurpassed for quality. The case illustrated is of Oak, we now offer Rosewood with bevelled glass and a chart drawer under. The movement is based on the Short and Mason types of around 1905. Many features make it unique and our eye for exactness means it really looks and blends with old instruments of the period as well as being the leader in its field. We have had old fashioned style bellows made to be more gentle on the eye, they are made from beryllium copper and dull silvered to look contemporary with the Edwardian design. The solid brass pillars are made to the pattern used for years by British instrument makers which began with the French Richard Brothers early design in the 1880's and continued until the 1960's. The top bars are in burnished steel and fixed with blued machine head screws to compliment and distinguish the movement. The brass base plate has a scolloped moulded edge and even the throw off arm is operated by the tensioned 'L' shaped brass lever fixed to the base as found on earlier models. The clock alone is remodelled from new to incorporate 4 Phosphor Bronze bearings to ensure long lasting and smooth running. Each clock is fixed inside the drum with thick brass plates. Charts are available in millibars or inches with adhesive strips to fix (a design of Short and Masons from 1904)
